MORE ABOUT SONYA

Born and raised in Upstate NY and now based on the West Coast, Sonya (she/her) is a multiply-disabled systems thinker, community organizer, and leader. Having had the pleasure to learn from a diverse array of marginalized folks across the U.S. to move towards collective liberation, she has generated collaborations across theatre, dance, film, human services, and local, state, and regional advocacy efforts to realize a world where historically oppressed people have dignity and autonomy.

Sonya holds a BA in Arts Management, a Masters in Global Development Practice, a graduate certificate in Social Justice, and a Certification in Professional Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC). Notably, Sonya spearheaded disability awareness and accessibility curriculum as a youth leader at COLAGE, the only support network for youth with LGBTQ parents and caregivers in the U.S, before serving as the first disabled Executive Director of Dance for All Bodies, among other leadership and organizing opportunities. Since 2024, Sonya has raised nearly $11,000 and counting for disability-led organizations through cycling through Cycling in Solidarity.

When not dreaming and scheming ways to moved closer to collective liberation, Sonya enjoys lifting weights, trying new food, and spending time with her partner, Tess.
